4-Day Preschool 


The 4-Day Preschool class is recommended for older four year-olds and young five year-olds who are not yet ready for Kindergarten and who have previous Preschool experience.

Entering Student Profile

  • Independent toileting skills
  • Able to verbally express desires and needs
  • Able to separate from parents
  • Able to attend to "tasks" for 10 minutes
  • Ability to use crayons and scissors
   
Class Description The 3-day and 4-day Preschool classes prepare four year-olds for the academic standards of Kindergarten, both public and private. These classes provide rich readiness skill in a structured group setting as well as many opportunities for creative expression and individual choice activities.
   
Teaching Format& Topics
Math:
Exposure to number concepts, number recognition of 1-100, use of manipulative's and other concrete mathematical experiences.

Language &
Reading Readiness:

Learning to recognize all letters of the alphabet and their sounds, writing their own name, exposure to children"s literature
Science:
Exploration of special units focusing on their world and the world around them (i.e. nutrition, safety, animals, nature)
Religion:
Chapel time in class and as a school, Bible stories from both Old and New Testaments, Christian songs, prayers and devotions aide in creating a positive Christian atmospher e.
Art & Music:
Students are given opportunities to explore artistic expression in different mediums, as well as experiences with show-and-tell, finger plays, songs, and special programs.
